Fishin'

Here are Kelsey and Papa, fishin' off the dock. Kelsey is Papa's little shadow. She likes to follow him around and help him. While Papa was fishing, Kelsey was busy "helping" him by using his net to pull junk out of the water and piling it on the dock. I cannot keep Kelsey clean for long in Tennessee.

Orange Cat

My Papa has a couple cats. They don't actually belong to him, but he takes care of them for a neighbor, and they think he is their daddy. He feeds them minnows and fish heads and a little bit of cat food. They are strictly outdoor cats, and are probably flea-bitten and germy, but my girls LOVE those cats! This is Orange Cat. He doesn't have an official name, but that's okay. He's friendly, and Merry always wants to bring him home with her. The fact that Scott and I are allergic to cats doesn't seem to bother Merry a bit!

Papa

This is Papa-time. Merry and Kelsey LOVE spending time with Papa. He is cleaning fish here, and the girls are watching, and helping him feed the cats. He is the best Papa there could ever be.

Granny

This is my Granny. She is the best Granny in the world. She has Alzheimer's. She doesn't know my name anymore, but the love is still there. She knows that I belong to her, and she loves my girls, just as she always loved me.

Seven Years Old

Merry had a birthday this month. She is seven years old now. I am so sad! She is such a beautiful and talented little girl, and I am proud to be her mommy. She is very artistic. She draws and colors beautiful pictures and can sing like a lark. And seven is such an important age! She is independent and happy, nearly all the time. Isn't she lovely?

More Wedding Pics

And here are my beautiful girls and my hot husband! He was also in the wedding, as you can see by his tux. He is such a good daddy, and the best husband there could ever be. I am truly blessed.

Flowergirls

The girls were in a wedding this past weekend...their second time as flowergirls. They did really well, and looked so sweet! I can't tell you how many people stopped me to ask about them as they exited the wedding hall. I was surprised that they made such an impression, but apparently they were really well behaved. So...I am proud of you, Merry and Kelsey! You were beautiful flowergirls!

The Apology

So, last Sunday, we had a very interesting after-dinner experience.
It was pouring rain, and we were leaving the restaurant. We had forgotten our umbrellas in the car, of course, so Scott pulled the van up to the curb. I rushed out into the rain with the girls...getting quite thoroughly soaked, and tried to hurry the girls into the van.
Merry got in first, and Kelsey had to climb over her to get to her carseat. I made sure they were both all the way in before shutting the van door. As I slammed the door shut, Scott and Kelsey both started screaming!
Apparently, after I started shutting the door, Kelsey tripped over Merry's feet, put her hand up to steady herself, holding on to the OUTSIDE of the van door!
I smashed the tips of her fingers in the door, and she started screaming in Merry's face, who promptly started crying, while Scott shouted at me to open the door!
Thankfully, no damage was done...but it took awhile to calm her down. She blamed Merry for the fact that she tripped, but blamed me for shutting the door on her hand.
As we drove home, Merry, with her notebook and pencil ever handy, asked me how to spell "sorry".
Scott and I looked at each other and I thought, "Aw, she wants to apologize to her sister! How sweet."
After a few moments, she said, "Okay, I am ready to read this to you all."
So we waited, and this is what she wrote:

Kelsey. I. Am. Sorry. But. That. Is. How. It. Goes.
