A Change

So...this week marks the beginning of something new in our lives. Sunday was my father's last Sunday as pastor of New Life Center, Garden City. Amazing. Almost 19 years have past since he started our church. They have been some of the hardest, yet most fulfilling, years of my life. I am proud of my parents. They started a church, and kept it alive and well through 19 years of good, bad and ugly.
Now, starting tomorrow, we will have a new pastor. Pastor Smothers is going to be a wonderful addition to our church. I am very excited about this change! But it is a bittersweet moment. A very important part of my life has ended, and something new is beginning. I thank God for my parents, for the Godly example they set for me, and for all their hard work in this ministry. And I wish them a sweet and peaceful start in this new phase of life.

How very nice of you to acknowledge to not only your parents but also to God! I wish your parents well in this new stage of their lives. It will be a CHANGE for sure, but I hope you all remember "that the Will of God will never lead you where the Grace of God cannot keep you!" ~ jb///

Aw, Kendra! I didn't know your dad is retiring! Best of luck to him and your mom as their lives make a turn in a new direction!

It's bittersweet for me, too. For 17 years Bro. and Sis. Roberts have been my pastor and friend. I've been blessed and I'm grateful. Connie W.

What will your parents be doing in their retirement? My dad retires this year also, in 16 days. He's counting down! How wonderful that they've dedicated their lives to a church that thrives and will continue to do so...what a wonderful legacy!

Hi Kendra!
I'm so happy for your parents. They have done amazing things and I know they will go on to many more wonderful adventures with caring and love!

I'm sorry that I am such a poor commenter..I do read though and wanted to give you this little "award" on my blog. More info there...

I miss you and I love you! Once school schedules settle in, maybe we can all meet up for a run at the park or something.

Hi KL,
They sure have been blessed. I know that this can't be easy. I know sometimes we forget to listen to God's will in our thinking but I'm glad to see you are. Best Wishes and congratulations to Mom and Dad.
