Sisterly Love

I took these photos today before we went to church. They girls were thrilled to be in their new dresses and hats from Grammy Lynn. So thrilled that they couldn't stop hugging each other!
Aren't they adorable?
It reminds me of a poem my dad used to quote to Katie and me:

There was a little girl
Who had a little curl
Right in the middle of her forehead
And when she was good
She was very, very good
But when she was bad
She was horrid

Today they were very, very good.

Asthma Season

As you can see from the photos below, asthma season is in full swing here in the Lynn household.
Unfortunately both my girls have childhood asthma, which we are hoping they outgrow.
Here they are, watching a movie while having their breathing treatments.
Generally, they are good for their treatments, as long as there is a movie on.
It takes me at least half an hour to give them each two treatments, and I'm supposed to give them up to three a day.
Its going to be a loooong winter.

Our Little Architect

Today, during church, I gave Merry a crayon and a piece of paper to color on. This is what she came up with.
Her "house".

Now tell me something. Isn't that good for a four-year old?
She actually pointed out those rooms that are labeled to me, and guess what? That is just about exactly the layout of our house! Okay, there are a FEW too many lines drawn, but hey, what can you expect from a four-year old?

Oh, by the way, I drew Chloe. Merry's not THAT good!

First Days of School, A Concert, and New Friends

We have had a very busy week! Whew...where do I start??
First, we had Labor Day. We went out to my aunt and uncle's cabin and had a good time with my dad's family. I don't quite recall what we did on Tuesday, but we kept pretty busy.
Merry got another spider bite, on her eye this time. I noticed it Tuesday afternoon and gave her some Benydryl and put her down for a nap. After her nap, it was looking even more red and swollen, and I tried to get her into her pediatrician but the office was closed for the evening. So, I gave her some more medication and put her to bed. Wednesday morning she woke up and her eye was so swollen and red that she could barely open it. I got her in to see the doctor and found out it was probably a spider bite and already very infected. They put her on heavy-duty antibiotics and Benydryl and it is clearing up.
After taking her to the doctor on Wednesday, I had to take her to Visitation Day at her preschool. She got reacquainted with her teachers and friends and had a great time. We went from there to pick up Kelsey at my dad's and then home for a brief nap.
After naptime, we headed over to the church because we had a concert with The MacDonald Family Singers. It was an awesome concert, and the MacDonald's are wonderful people. The concert began at seven, and we didn't leave the church until eleven, due to some great fellowship afterwards.
I will try to post some pictures of the concert tomorrow, if at all possible.

Today was Kelsey's Visitation Day at preschool. Oh my! That girl was so excited she couldn't see straight! She LOVED her teachers, the activities and meeting new friends. But most of all, she LOVED her new totebag that the school gave her! We brought it home and after naptime we decorated Merry and Kelsey's totebags for school. They are extremely fancy, and the girls are thrilled.

Tonight we had Bible Study at the church, and I had 14 kids (my kids' choir kids) in a tiny room decorating hats for a concert we are doing this fall. They were wild, noisy and a handful, but they had a blast, and so did I.

We just got the girls in bed, and its time to crash.
I will try to post pictures tomorrow of the concert and Merry's first official day of school.

My Scrabble© Score is: 11.
What is your score? Get it here.

The only reason I posted this is because my mom and I LOVE Scrabble!
We don't get to play very often because of being busy with the girls, but that is one incredible game!
Let's play again soon, Momma!

Here's looking at you. Posted by Picasa

We found this little guy on our porch light when we got home this evening. This is probably the biggest bug we have ever seen. The weirdest part was how he turned his head and looked at us. He continued staring while we went in the house. I think he was offended that we were interrupting his dinner.

Kelsey and Meredith's Greatest Hits

We were driving home from church and singing in the car and it went so well, we talked the girls into making recordings into the laptop. Here they are:

Meredith singing "You're the One" 800kb
Kelsey singing "Mary had a Little Lamb" 190kb

You can click on either link to play the song, or right-click on the link and save the file to your desktop to play.

Ladies Retreat

I just got back yesterday afternoon from a Ladies Retreat at our church campground.
It was very good, and the speakers were awesome!
My mom, Katie and I had to sing Friday morning...we were so nervous! Thankfully, we made it through the song just fine, and many told us that we were anointed while singing, so that's a good thing.
I especially enjoyed spending quality time with my sister and a couple of other friends.
And guess what? I can move my neck with no pain! God is good!
I'm very thankful.

Hope you all had a marvellous weekend.

A Medical Update

For those of you who are interested, my gallbladder is doing much, much better! As long as I stick pretty closely to this no-fat diet my friend (a doctor) has me on, I do alright. If I want to eat ice cream, I now know this: Take a Zantac first, otherwise I will be in major pain.
I AM getting rather sick of soup and ramon noodles, but have lost a few pounds in the process, and am happy about THAT small victory.

In other news, I stretched my arms above my head this morning and heard some nasty pops coming from my neck and shoulder. There was some extreme pain and I discovered VERY quickly that I couldn't move my head to the right and had difficulty moving my arm as well. After an emergency visit to the chiropracter, I am able to move some, but still have quite a bit of pain. We will see what tomorrow holds.
I apparently crushed a nerve while stretching, and will have to make a few more visits to Dr. Craig to get this neck of mine back into adjustment.
Sigh.
When it rains, it pours.
Say a prayer, please. :)

Maybe the fact that lifting my right arm is painful will cause me to be less likely to lift that delicious looking cookie to my mouth. Who knows, maybe I will lose a little more weight because of this!

A Real Tear-Jerker

Okay.
I don't normally recommend movies on my blog, but I just can't help it.

Scott, the girls, and I watched "Cheaper By the Dozen 2" tonight.
I know, I know. The sequel is almost always worse than the original! Not so, in this case.
This movie was pretty much great from start to finish. I even got a little teary-eyed toward the end.
If you watch this movie, you will love your parents for loving you. And you will love your little ones all the more, no matter how much trouble they cause.
I'm not jokin'. I highly recommend this for all of you out there.

Don't forget the kleenex and remember to call your folks to tell them you love them.

Pictures from Clix

Okay. I have finally scanned in the photos taken at Clix Studio. Now you all can really see what an awesome job they did!
Let me know what you think. :)
Personally, I can't get over how cute my kids are! (or, rather, WERE, on that day.)

Just An Update

Hey,everyone.
Sorry I haven't been around much.
I've been a little bit sick. Apparently I'm having some gallbladder trouble, and have been feeling a little under the weather.
Our great friend, Tammer, has me on this horrible bland diet. Soup, bread, veggies and fruit. Maybe I'll lose a few pounds.
The diet has helped a little. I'm not feeling nearly as much pain or nausea, so that's a good thing.

The girls are doing well...happy to be playing and staying home.
I hope you all are well.

Take care and say a prayer that this gallbladder stuff clears up, please!

Cutest Kids Contest

Well, folks, the time for the Cutest Kids Contest is here. I have entered my kids in this contest, put on by Clix Studio in Canton. I would really appreciate it if any and all of you would go to www.clix-canton.com and vote for one of my two girls. You are only allowed one vote per person, so choose whichever one you like. They are on the first page of photos, toward the middle, side by side. They are dressed in white shirts and blue skirts and have braids in their hair.

Well, I guess that is it. Thanks for your votes!

Oh, one more thing, please let me know if you voted, okay?

Proud Parents

I would just like to take this moment to tell you all that Scott and I are proud parents of two future singers.
Yesterday, Father's Day, we surprised my dad at church and had Merry and Kelsey sing a "special" in front of the whole church.
Kelsey decided at the last minute that she wasn't up for singing.
She plopped down on the platform and held the microphone, but she sure didn't sing!
Merry stood next to her pouting sister, held the microphone, and very sweetly sang "Jesus Loves Me". I have a recording of it, just waiting on Scott to convert it to a pdf file so I can post it.
Yes...I am proud. Check back for the recording. :)

Coming Soon....

Just a note to all you faithful readers; I will be posting some new pictures of the girls very soon.
I just have to scan them in and have Scott help me clean them up.
Sorry its been so long between posts, but we are leaving for a New Jersey trip tomorrow, and I have spent the entire week getting ready to go.
Its amazing how much laundry four people can acquire. I finally got all caught up on it, and am completely packed. I'm hoping we leave before nine a.m. tomorrow. If I really push him, Scott CAN be moved!

Look for pictures soon, and I may be able to update from NJ.

Have a great Memorial Weekend.

Two Babies

Although I wouldn't trade my girls for the world, I was a very tired mommy. Its hard to have two babies. Anyone with twins will tell you that. Unfortunately, I didn't have twins. At least twins pretty much do everything at the same time. I had one being weaned from the bottle, and one dependent on the bottle. I had one ready for pullups and one in diapers. I had one walking and climbing, and one demanding to be held all the time. Thankfully, I had a great family and lots of help. Scott was a wonderful husband and daddy. Kelsey didn't like to fall asleep for the night until one or two a.m., so Scott would stay up and work until she fell asleep. Then he would come to bed and we would both sleep until the girls woke us up in the morning. There were many times when I would come down to check on them around midnight or one a.m., and find Scott at his computer with Kelsey swaddled in her blankets on his lap.
I am so glad those days are over, but my girls are growing so quickly, and I miss the baby days sometimes.
Not that I want to do them over again, mind you!

Our Second Baby

When Merry was about six or seven months old, I discovered I was pregnant again. This was a VERY big surprise because we were trying hard NOT to have any more babies. Obviously, something failed, and we were blessed with Kelsey. Although we were happy to have her, she was completely different from her big sister. She cried a LOT, and demanded to be held much of the time. We were very happy when Kelsey learned to crawl, because from then on, things moved quickly and she was a much happier baby.

Our First Baby

After being married for roughly 14 months, I discovered I was pregnant. We were very excited, and in April of 2002, Meredith was born. Our newlywed bliss pretty much ended with the birth of our first baby, but we moved on into family mode with hardly any problems. Merry was a sweet and very good little girl.
Wasn't she cute?

Six Years Together

He makes me more adventurous. Posted by Picasa

Today Scott and I celebrate our sixth anniversary. It feels longer sometimes, and other times I wonder where the time has gone! It doesn't seem that its been six years since we took our vows and sealed it with a kiss. But here we are, quite a ways down the road of marriage. We have two vehicles, a house, a dog and two little girls. Scott works hard to make his business, Online Solutions, a success. And I work hard to hold the house and kids all together.
I am so thankful that God allowed us to fall in love. I'm so thankful that I listened to that small voice inside that encouraged me to renew my friendship with Scott. I don't know what I'd be doing now, if Scott hadn't come into my life.
There is no better husband than Scott, and I thank God for him.

I love you, babe. Happy Anniversary!

Love,
Kendra

No Piano No Problem

Some of you have expressed curiousity in No Piano No Problem, the computer program that plays the piano for you.
If you go to www.nopianonoproblem.com, you will find any information you need there.
I'm very excited about this program. We use the "rough" version of it in our services sometimes, and its really great. I have no problem leading our worship service and singing along with this program.
Check it out!

Another Busy Sunday

Today was a good day...busy as usual.
Our Sundays are wild around here!
We had a really great service today. I led songs and we used Scott's No Piano No Problem software. It went really, really well. I felt like God really moved in our service.
My friend, Terra, and her little girl came to church today. That was awesome. I've been praying for her, and for her to come, on her own, was great. She really seemed to enjoy the service and the singing, and I feel good about the whole thing. I believe she will be back. Perhaps even next Sunday.
Her little girl liked Kids' Church, so that's cool.

We came home this evening and changed our clothes and then went to the pond to feed the ducks. We didn't get any ducks to eat our bread, but we did see a muskrat. What a weird thing! I thought for sure it was a sewer rat swimming in the pond, but my dad says it was a muskrat. UGLY. I am not into rodents (except squirrels). And it was a greasy, slimy lookin' thing.
Thankfully it didn't get out of the water, or I would have really freaked out.

Now we are home, and I'm feeling tired after such a busy Sunday. I think I will head to bed soon, and get up early in the morning to clean the house for our guest that is coming into town tomorrow evening.

God bless you all.

How Much More Can I Cram Into A Day????

Yes, folks, today was a record setting day for me.
I usually look at Fridays as a start to the weekend. You know, a nice, slow day...do a little cleaning or laundry, spend time with the kids, cook a nice dinner, etc.
Today was NOT my typical Friday.
I was apparently not thinking very straight, and scheduled so many things for today, that I actually had to miss my voice lesson. (which I HATE missing! It was rescheduled for today, and I had to skip out on it.)
I had a Bible study with Angela scheduled at 10:30. (she had to cancel for a family emergency, and I was relieved, only because I wasn't sure I could manage the rest of the day.)
Since that was cancelled, I decided to go early to the "playdate" at my friend Terra's house. I had told her that I would bring the girls over, and ended up doing so. We stayed there for a couple hours and then I rushed off to get the girls pizza for lunch. We went home, ate very quickly, I put them down for a nap, and then rushed off again to meet Ashley for a late lunch/early dinner. That was very enjoyable, and I stayed as long as I could. However, my day was not finished. I finally had to leave the comfort of my booth at Red Robin, rush home, get the girls dressed and head right back out the door.
Scott, the girls, Terra and Karli and myself all went to Northridge Church tonight for a kids' concert. Jessi's sister, Alex, was performing, and we went to see her.
It was an incredible concert! I will definitly take the girls to see another. They were very impressed.
After the concert, we took Terra and Karli and made a detour to Coldstone Creamery for some very sinful ice cream. Then we took Terra and Karli home, stopped by Taco Bell (seeing that we didn't have time for supper) and finally made it home.
It is now 11:18 p.m. and I am trying to wind down from such a crazy day.
It was a good day, but my brain shut off over an hour ago, and now I am ready to go hit the hay.
I'm really hopin' next Friday won't be QUITE so packed.
I gotta get me a dayplanner. Whew.
Goodnight, All.
